First, Happy Halloween to each and every one of my followers! For us horror aficionados, today may as well be the culmination of our entire year. As I reflect on the current state of horror cinema and television, I can’t help feeling excited about how great the landscape has become. If I’m being honest, it’s almost a little overwhelming. With great new titles and franchises being released with ever-increasing frequency, I find it hard to stay on top of it all! Horror has always had a steady stream of releases, whether in theaters or straight to home video. What’s truly amazing over the last several years is the quality of these releases. Hardly a week passes anymore without some must-see film that I’m on my way to the theater to catch. Independent, creative, and truly artistic filmmaking, in my opinion, is mostly happening in the horror space. With major studios scared to do anything that doesn’t have a superhero in it, artists have been feasting in our favorite genre.
I also wanted to take this time to outline a possible roadmap for where I’d like to see Joe Is Afraid before Halloween 2025. I plan to put more effort into writing about the numerous 4K transfers being done for some of my favorite classic horror movies. Looking ahead, I would love to get into podcasting or video while keeping the same great written content. If there is any other content you would like to see as a subscriber, I would love to hear about it!
Thank you so much for being a subscriber to Joe Is Afraid, and I hope you have a very happy Halloween!
